Adobe premiere elements versus Cyberlink power director

    Hi,

I'm trying to decide between Adobe premiere elements and CyberLink power director ultra. Both cost approximately the same.
Since I'm new to video editing and don't know exactly what to look for, I would appreciate some comments from more experienced people who know both programs.

    Regards

    Berthold

I decided to buy Adobe Premiere Elements because they offered a 30% discount for the Premiere/Photoshop bundle and I could buy the student version. In the end both together cost me only 70 which is less than Powerdirector costs. I also prefer the cleaner interface of the Adobe software compared to the flashy Cyberlink GUI.

    regards

A few years ago I went with Adobe Premiere Elements 8. Then when I wanted to upgrade to 11 I got the upgrade discount. I like working with Adobe products. 11 can do most anything ...except...render to .mp4 format. It reads and edits mp4 fine though.

I'm sure Power Director is a great program too. Heard lots of people say great things about it. I just don't have any experience.

I think a good program will:

Read and edit any format you need
Render to any format you need and at any quality level you desire.
Have the ability to edit audio and ability to layer several video and audio tracks.
Have all the effects you could ever want and color adjustment abilities.
And of course a wide verity of transitions.

Sometines it good to try then before buying. Everyone's needs are different...and change over time it seems.

    Good luck....and have fun!
