All New GoPro HERO+ LCD Entry Level Camera

Earlier this month, GoPro released their newest member to the HERO camera lineup: The HERO+ LCD.

This new camera is based on the HERO camera priced at $129.99 but this one has an integrated LCD screen similar to the more expensive $399.99 GoPro HERO4 Silver.

Priced at $299.99 USD, the HERO+ LCD allows you to capture stunning videos in 1080p at 60fps and snap 8 megapixel photos.

Video resolution choices are quite limited with this camera, which is to be expected since it is still considered an entry-level camera. The only other options you have are 720p at 60fps with or without SuperView.

The big news for this camera is that it is the FIRST GoPro that allows you to trim and save short highlight clips directly on your camera.

Like the HERO, the HERO+ LCD is built into the case which means the camera cannot be removed from the housing.

According to the GoPro website, this model is available in limited quantities so if you want one, you better move quick! There is no indication as to how many cameras are available or when they will stop making them.

So we can’t help but ask the question: Is the $299.99 HERO+ LCD worth the premium over the HERO or is the HERO4 Silver the clear choice despite the $399.99 price tag?

Tell us which camera you would pick and why in the comments section below!

    • Great point @edfoo. And with the spare cash, you could pick up some extra mounts and accessories.

But keep in mind, the HERO+ LCD does have the capability of shooting 1080p @ 60fps versus the HERO’s 1080p @ 30fps.
